Hotel Savoia Termæ & Spa is part of a network that supervises the maturation process and quality of thermal mud at the University of Padua – Veneto Region - O.T.P. - Osservatorio Termale Permanente (Permanent Thermal Observatory), and employs medical personnel and specialized paramedics for the application of mud.
To protect the originality of Hotel Terme Savoia’s thermal mud, Italian researchers have registered a
national patent n° MI2004A000011 “Principi attivi antinfiammatori nei fanghi termali euganei” and an
international patent (UE) n° 05100038.8 “Anti-Inflammatory active principles in Euganean Thermal Mud”.
Hotel Savoia Thermæ & Spa identifies this patent by the initials DOC.
GLOBAL MUD-THERAPY
Global Mud Therapy consists of 4 basic passages:
1 - Application of mud: the mud is applied directly to the skin at a temperature between 37-38ºC for a period of 15-20 minutes. At the end of the mud application, it is removed through a thermal shower.
2 - Bath in thermal water: the next step is immersion in a thermal bathtub for 8/10 minutes at a temperature of around 36-38ºC, essential after mud application in order to induce muscular relaxation from thermal waters (the addition of ozone exercises further vasodilator action with a stimulating effect on blood circulation).
3 - Sweat reaction: it is advisable after a thermal bath to return to your room and remain in bed well-covered for the duration of the sweat reaction.
4 - Therapeutic massage: Finally, the guest is received in the tranquillity of designated rooms where he or she will receive a revitalizing massage that aims to stimulate muscular and nervous activity.
BALNEOTHERAPY IN MINERAL WATER SPRINGS
Balneotherapy consists in the body’s immersion into a tub of hot thermal water enriched with ozone. Water is truly an extraordinary element because it facilitates all joint activity in the body: freer range of movement, relaxation of muscles, diminished pain. In addition, the bubbles produced by ozone guarantee intense vascodilator action by stimulating blood circulation. Balneotherapy is practiced in individual tubs with thermal bromidic iodic salt water at a temperature of 36-38ºC for 15 minutes, for a total of 12 cycles (1 per day), and is almost always followed by mud therapy. Thermal baths, thanks to the pressure exerted by the water, are ideal for joint articulation, alleviating painful syndromes and muscular atrophy. They also play a critical role in post-traumatic rehabilitative programs, healing fractures, and surgical intervention. In addition to all this, the chemical composition of the water promotes resolution of chronic inflammatory diseases and multiple types of dermatosis.
INHALATION THERAPY
The unique composition of thermal bromidic iodic salt water has an effective purifying action on mucus in the respiratory apparatus (pharynx, larynx, bronchial tube). A treatment cycle in thermal waters is sufficient for achieving intense mucolytic and decongestant activity. Inhalation therapy is beneficial for everyone, but it is especially recommended for major smokers and children, both for its soothing and cleansing effect. The most commonly treated pathologies include: rhinitis, laryngitis, sinusitis, and bronchitis.
